SPELL AND THE CITY

Spell & her city… for a few days // Off-set antics during our Folk Town campaign visit to NYC.
Story by our Creative Director Isabella Pennefather
Photo Diary by Sybil Steele
I can’t believe I had not been to this heave’n, style’n, thrive’n city before!! After seeing a million movies made in NYC, I think perhaps I thought I’d been there when actually I hadn’t. Walking through the streets of SoHo after a long flight, I finally felt the essence of this city, the apple of America’s eye…
The cafes and buildings, the hustle and bustle of New Yorker’s rushing around in their own little world… Lizzy was right, it was the perfect backdrop for Folk Town – so many little idiosyncrasies, love it or hate it, you could see each local felt like they knew their city inside out.
I fell in love with the streets of Soho, Chelsea and the Village. New York wouldn’t be New York without those fire escapes – I wanted to hang off one and call down to my hubby below… he was back in OZ of course but there was something so romantically theatrical about the whole city!
I stayed at Sixty SoHo which meant I was literally in the thick of it and I just soaked it all up – I broke away from pre-production lock-down a few times for some Magnolia cupcakes, coffee and too much window shopping.
It was a whirlwind week of jet-lag, pre-production and shooting. Lots of Yellow Cabs (wish there really was such a thing as relaxa-taxi… or relaxicab). Here’s a few photo diary shots from my lady love Sybil Steele who was lovely enough to be my partner in crime for my whirlwind adventure… Where are your fave local must-visits when in this thrive’n city?!!
Thanks to Sixty SoHo for being amazing hosts of Spelly & some of the crew! They had an amazing stay there xx
Love this so! Every outfit looks perfectly at home.
These photos are so fun! It actually is a perfect back drop for a Spell takeover!

Beautiful pictures. Love it!
I love that urban Gypsy style. Love your skirts, so light, flowy, with vivid prints.

Ah this is such a fun post, so many cute outfits and gorgeous shots!! You guys make me want to dance around the city in my spell!
So glad you enjoyed your time in our city! I am a New Yorker through and through, but I still find something new to see or do here every day. You must come back, preferably during the summer when we have our weekend markets and tons of season-specific activities! Free concerts in Central Park, the Jazz Age Lawn Party, evening cocktail parties at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the vinyl record fair by the Williamsburg waterfront are some of my favorites.
