Ride by Lana Del Rey

If you’re not one of the 2.5 million people who watched this yesterday, (you may have been under some kind of YouTube rock…) Here it is. This 10 minute long/short film and epic poem follows the story of Lana as a biker, paying homage to her favourite source material, the elusive American Dream/freedom/being born to die. It’s a really brave clip.

Not too sure about the war bonnet which I’m assuming will cop a bit of flack on some blogs. But it’s shot so elegantly by Anthony Mandler and is haunting and dark, and beautifully captures an aching heart of a woman at war with herself – the imagery of her swinging on a tire swing in a sun drenched desert sunset is worth the watch alone.
